About Dr. Ivan Wong
Dr WONG, is a Specialist in Cardiology with extensive experience in complex coronary and structural heart interventions. A graduate of the University of Hong Kong, he completed his cardiology specialist training at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he previously served as Associate Consultant in the Department of Medicine.
He went on to receive advanced training in structural heart interventions and interventional echocardiography at leading international centres, including the Heart Centre of Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University in Shanghai, China.
Dr Wong is an Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Council Member of the Hong Kong Society of Congenital and Structural Heart Disease.
His clinical and research interests include transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO), and intracardiac echocardiography (ICE)-guided interventions. He has helped establish ICE-guided interventional programmes in Macau and Taiwan, and is the inventor of the LACRCO algorithm, SENTIPACE strategy, and SISARI technique in interventional cardiology.
Dr Wong has authored and co-authored book chapters and publications in peer-reviewed journals, including JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions and EuroIntervention. He is also a co-author of the European Consensus Statement on the Management of Coronary Artery Disease in Patients Undergoing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation and the Chinese Expert Consensus Statement on Left Atrial Appendage Closure in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation.
